S’like the first time i tasted Indian tea in a tassie,
my tongue would not stop slurping in bliss,
sweet satisfaction with a tea-ngy tang
S’like the second time i read Mark Twain,
twasn’t two-a-penny; twas a rich moment
Huclkeberry Finn became the brother i thirst for.
S’like the third time i saw Elementaita,
tightest moment of my life; when i discovered the threesome’
gold,pink and silver.
S’like the fourth time i sat in a Deutsch class and decided to stay four years,
and watch Herr Mutua turn red everytime i snapped,
“Ich spreche einbisschen Deutsh!Gib mir noch etwas zeit! yikes!”
S’like the fifth time i drunk obambla soup,
bumble bee’s honey could never, at all, ever beat,
the super taste of this here soup!
S’like the sixth time i caught dede,
and took time to giggle at the tickle in my folded fist,
i’ve never been so touched again…..ever.
S’like the seventh time you wrote me an ode,
stranger to my eyes, foreigner to my phone book, bosom buddy to my P.O Box,
strumming my heart with strangely familiar verse.
S’like first million, second chance granting, third rate mexican soaps,
fourth helpings, Fifth Avenue Bistro, sixth lip lock and seven heaven.
All alien but mine too.
